How To Make Cake Pops

Cake pops are a mixture of yumminess and fun, what with being a cross between lollipop and cake. Plus, these are a great way to use up any leftover or stale cake. These treats are always a hit at children’s parties or even formal occasions such as weddings.Luckily, the amazing cake pops are extremely easy to whip up at home. There’s also more than one way to make them, so read on below for some guideline:

 1. The Cake:

You may have some stale, leftover cake in the fridge. It could be all dry and tasteless and not much use for consuming as it is. Nevertheless, it’s a pity to throw it away. You can use a cake like this to make your cake pops or make one of your own. The stale cake should only be used if you plan on consuming your cake pops quickly. For professional matters, you should try baking the cake pops individually or use a freshly baked cake. For this, you can make use of a cake mix, of course, there is also the option of making your cake from scratch. Whichever the case, make sure you have some cake on hand. The coating and icing you use for your cake pops would depend on the flavor of cake you start out with.

2. The Frosting:

Each cake pop needs to be coated with some frosting or icing both for taste and aesthetic purposes. Some frosting or icing would also need to be mixed into the cake pops themselves. The flavors of this would depend on the cake you started out with, as mentioned before.A chocolate cake pop should be coated with dark or milk chocolate. You can make a ganache frosting by heating some cream and placing some broken chocolate in it, then mixing the two to form a smooth paste. Do the same with white chocolate, which would also go well with a chocolate cake pop. For a white or yellow cake pop, any color or flavor of chocolate ganache or frosting is best. For a red velvet cake pop, you should go for a cream cheese frosting. The same goes for gingerbread or any spiced cake flavor.

3. Crumble the Cake:

Once you have a nice and cold cake, crumble it all up. You can use your hands or a fork or spoon for this purpose. For more ease, a cake mixer also comes in handy. The finer the crumbs, the easier it would be to roll the pops. You can take some crumbs out at this stage. These crumbs would come in handy for garnishing the final result.

4. Mixing:

Put half your frosting into the crumbs. Mix them up with your hands or a spoon until the texture is dough-like. You should now be able to scoop out little balls with your hands or a cookie scooper. Make tight little balls so that they won’t come apart when you push the sticks into them.

5. Assembling:

Get your cake pop sticks ready. Dip one end into the melted sauce or ganache, and then insert that end into the cake pops. Next, dip the whole pop into the sauce. Garnish with the saved crumbs or some crushed wafers, and chill before serving. For packing the cake pops, you can order wedding cake boxes wholesale

Conclusion:

Cake pops are quite expensive if you purchase them from a bakery or caterer. However, they are a cheap hack that could even enable you to use up any leftovers at home. So do give them a try at home; you may be surprised at just how easy they are!
